A message from MidWest FanFest.

As many have noticed, we've been pretty quiet since June. We're reaching out to you to let you know what's been going on and an update.

When we started MidWest FanFest it was in the hopes of bringing a fun and new event to the area. Over the years, all of us that work MWFF, have strived to create safe events where everyone is welcome. We've advocated taking care of yourself, whether it's physical or mental health. Don't put yourself in a bad spot for a cosplay, art, others or even a convention.

In June, our Executive Director Shareece had a heart attack. Throughout the summer, she tried to steam through it so she could put on a good show. But after continuous visits to the hospital and learning from her past events, we've come to a hard decision we've never thought we'd do.

We're postponing MidWest FanFest until next year.

It wasn't just Shareece. This summer has been brutal to many of our staff and even some of our attendees and vendors. Even having some having to step back themselves for this year. There's only so much pushing from the universe before you know its time to take care of yourself.

Our new dates are Oct 18th - 20th, 2024.

Even if its in the best interest for us and the convention, it still hurts to have to make that kind of decision. We were really hoping to pull it off this year. But. This just means that next year is going to be absolutely amazing for our first official year.

First, all of our special guests, announced and yet to be announced, are coming next year. They are excited to meet you all and support this decision. Second, all vendors and artists keep their spots for next year. Also, all prereg will be rolled into next year.

Third, two of our special guests and our friends at Books-A-Million (Rapid City, SD) are doing BAM Geekfest. They'll be doing a special Meet N Greet event on Oct 14th from 1pm to 5pm. Tom Rasch and Chantelle Tarum will be there. Chantelle will be doing one of her panels she was going to do at the con, Portfolio Review. Bring your portfolio and get one on one input on what video game directors, movie storyboardists , and other industry experts look for when they look over your portfolio. So come meet the BAM Geek Club, get your favorite drink, and meet some awesome people!

Fourth! We are going to be spotlighting all of our vendors and artists over the few weeks as we run into the holiday seasons to support them. Have a virtual artist alley and dealers to support them!

Thank you for being a part of this great community and for supporting us through this. We're going to take this time heal, regroup and plan the best event that we can. We want to also thank and give a big shout out to The Box Elder Events Center. They have been absolutely amazing and supportive in this. They have a stellar team that make them unique and the best to work with. We are honored to have them as our partners in bringing this awesome event to the Black Hills.
